A reader sent me this story the other day, knowing we are always on the lookout for quality education and inspiration to share with our readers. There’s a fun article on Focus Point Workshops’ website by Suzanne Merrill (owner of Starr Photography) about the content for the upcoming cake smash class she’s teaching.

Suzanne has partnered with Focus Point Workshops to share her tips on successful cake smash photography. Focus Point Workshops is located in Victoria, British Columbia and is offering some wonderful classes and hands-on training for photographers that are looking to travel.

Starr Photography’s Suzanne Merrill has Cake Smash Inspiration and Tips to share with photographers of all skill ranges on how she connects with children.

If a child has known stranger danger, I do not open the door and greet them. I leave my door open a crack and have the client come in on their own. In our confirmation email I will explain that I will be sitting at my desk when they come in and that I am not being rude. I let them get comfortable and allow baby hear me talking to mom. Babies are naturally curious so they come in and meet me on their own terms. Right off the bat I ignore them because I don’t want to overwhelm them. In your face welcomes are not great for kids with stranger danger issues.
